The bull has special significance in Peru, especially in the town of Pucara. According to legend, a man from Pucara decided to sacrifice his bull in order to end a terrible drought. Apprehending its fate, the bull struggled, and in doing so its horn struck a rock. Water poured forth from the rock, ending the drought and restoring vitality to the land. From that time, the bull has been revered as a symbol of protection, happiness and fertility. Peru’s Juan Carlos Diaz crafts this exquisite sculpture from ceramic, painting it by hand with excellent attention to detail.
