Costa Rica’s Nury Marchena pays homage to her country with a ceramic decorative vase that celebrates the traditional Chorotega pottery techniques as well as the local flora and fauna. This vivid accessory featuring a butterfly and a hummingbird is painted by hand with natural pigments obtained by pulverizing rocks, mixing them with water, applying this paste to the vase and then placing it on a wood-burning brick kiln to set.
