Steadying it with one hand, a young woman balances a basin on her head. She wears a colorful embroidered dress as she pauses in her daily chores to briefly close her eyes and enjoy the morning breeze. Members of the House of El Salvador Artisans craft the image in clay to create a candleholder. ‘This series honors the work of women in our society,’ they explain.
