A radiant sun and moon look down from their celestial perches in Maria and Esteban’s hand painted wall art. The sun and moon were omnipresent themes in pre-Colombian cultures and commonly appear in the works of modern Mexican artisans. This is an especially colorful ceramic representation utilizing imperial blue, goldenrod, emerald green, sapphire blue and red-orange, among other colors. A masculine mouth, nose and pair of eyes for the sun and feminine features for the moon further personify them as a couple. Detailed villagers and peacocks also embellish the wall accents.
